Diva's in Denim

This video was an experimental photography idea from the project Fabric First, this project made us focus on our fabrics before anything else. We were given denim to work with, and studied on how jeans were made and their history. I didn't feel like the story within my project suited typical jeans, so i wanted to do a jacket or a dress with jean influences. We also had to select a muse to base this project off, and i decided to look at Missy Elliott as an inspiration. I love her music and see her as a fashion icon within the pop industry. Mainly looking into her video 'the rain' 1997 and taking the colours from this. Furthermore i started looking into the 90s feminist movement, when the woman celebrates her sexuality and re-owns her desire for sex. I wanted anyone wearing this collection to feel fabulous and only enhance their feminine power.
