QUEER REVOLT

 

This project focuses on the LGBTQ+ community and its political uprise in modern years. Using motifs from the 70s punk movement and classic tartans, I developed the project into a modern rebellion against gender norms, with the aim to motivate and strengthen my community. I felt a sense of national pride as well as distrust in Britains political leaders, but ultimately a strive to be heard. 

There is a justified anger in this community, I wanted to not only authenticate that but inspire people to be confident and approach the subject with love as the intention. We see now mainstream straight/cisgender companies profiting from queer culture, I believe the future will reject majority gender norms and celebrate queer people as icons for art/media.
