Metamorphosis

 

The beginning of this project stems from the classic oil paintings of the renaissance era, especially depicting religious beings and prophecies. Overwhelming and uncomfortable are the most common words I noted when people commented on the pieces - and my main aim was to try and embody that level of emotional depth and detail. 

From the essence of this historical art I explored the biblical images and stories as a source of inspiration. Religion has always been a point of interest for me for its influence in the world, but within this project i felt a real inclusive catholicism and divide of the almighty good and evil. But above all the fear of god and satan that plagues the minds of our people, some to the point of frequent nightmares and complete devotion. Overall I felt a sense of the almighty, deep fear and pain.
